Construction Progress

Overview

The brewery is a three-tiered gravity fed system.  Initially the brew capacity will be around the 20l mark, but provision will be made for larger batches in the future.

Two stainless steel beer kegs were purchased from a local scrap metal dealer.  I arranged for the tops to be cut out using a plasma cutter.  One will be for the boiler and one for the mash tun.

A cheap 19l pot was purchased for the HLT.  This will need replacing in the future should larger batches be brewed.

Tap Assemblies

The mash tun, brewpot and HLT are all fitted with brass taps.  The mash tun is fitted with a thermometer.

Drilling a Keg

Drilling a keg to fit the taps and thermometers presents a few challenges.

Brewstand

The brewstand was built using hammer-lock galvanised steel shelves.

Mash Tun

The mash tun is finished.

The First Brewday

After a huge amount of work in a pretty short time, I got my first brew away.
